New Tomato Cage Design Success!
I first detailed the new tomato cage design Dave and I came up with here Building New Tomato Cages Whether it was a just coincidence or not, we've had incredible success with our new tomato cages! We have had a bumper crop so far, with more on the way. Everything we've done this year has been the same- same fertilizing, same varieties, same watering. The weather may have been a little tiny bit milder than usual, not a lot of weeks in the 100s. They're really easy to build and relatively cheap so if you need a tomato cage design I would highly recommend this one!
Good for cukes too!
So much better than buying the expensive tomato cages advertised in garden catalogs. I think your tomato plants liked them!
ReplyDeleteYes it was a really great choice and I think next time we might just build some little bit taller!
ReplyDeleteWe have done tomato cages out of cattle panels . If we had leftovers from fencing. A great recycled project.
ReplyDeleteThey worked well and I am suspicious that the height and shape may cause the abundance as ours were the same style as yours.
Since I am no longer using panels for fencing I will check out the link and spend some of winters down time in the shop building them for my first garden here.
Thanks for the report.
Thanks Goatldi, yes all kinds of things will work! We used to do recycled conduit, but they always slid down....
